FanFiction book club starts NOW with “Master of the Universe” (SQEEE!)

Ok ladies, as Bulletsucker and I mentioned in our podcast last week, Pop Culture Junkie is officially starting a FanFiction book club in which we’ll escape to the world of erotica and enjoy a little well-written porn each week! Because who can resist lady porn written by and for ladies? We'll start with, duh, “Twilight” porn!! First up: “Master of the Universe”. And no, I’m not talking about “He-Man”. Master refers to Edward Cullen. . . (*chills down spine*)

A little back story into my fanfic fetish

You see, I’ve discovered something recently that I feel the need to share with all my lovely sistahs out there: FanFic can do wonders for your relationship with the Mister! No for realz, it can! In fact, I was telling this to a friend this past weekend, and she chimed in and said that the sex doctor, Dr. Laura Berman, says that reading erotica is a great way to spice up a marriage. (Or any relaysh for that matter!) It felt great hearing that my recommendation mirrored Dr. Laura’s. So from now on, just call me the Pop Culture Junkie sex doctor!

So as I explained in a previous blog post on FanFic, I’m deep in the trenches of reading “OSA Bella” (which you all MUST read), and because that shiz is so good and so steamay, it tweaked my curiosity even more. If you follow any “Twilight” blogs, you may see the reference to “Fifty” of “Fifty Shades” from time to time. Well, I always wondered who this elusive Fifty was! And then I discovered that Fifty is a reference to this "King Kong" of FanFiction stories called “Master of the Universe” (MOTU). Upon a quick check on FanFiction, I see that MOTU has won all kinds of awards, which there are too many to name. But I’ll list a handful for good measure:

Fan Fiction You Couldn't Stop Reading - First Place, Best Fan Fiction of the Year So Far - First Place, Adonis Award (Best Use of Edward), Climax Award (Best Drama), Tie Me Up Tie Me Down Award, and Best Cherry Pop Award to name a few…

And if that doesn’t sound enticing enough, as previously mentioned in our podcast, MOTU was reported on FanFiction for being too sexually graphic, so some of the chapters had to be taken down! (But thankfully, they’re in their entirety on her blog 50shades.) Are you dying of curiosity yet? Please say YES!!!

How this will work

So, starting Tuesday 9/07/10, our MOTU book club begins! And to ensure I had a little inkling of what I was getting us into, I perused YouTube to see if there were any MOTU vids created. And of course there are MILLIONS! Ok, maybe not millions, but there’s a crazy amount! To test the waters, I gave some girlfriends a MOTU video party over Labor Day to gauge interest and everyone was like, “Ok, where do I sign up?” Even the one that flat out shuns book reading is excited! (I feel all responsible for her future love of reading again!)

Take a gander at the vids below. You should be warned; Edward is a very naughty boy in this fic. He’s the Master and I believe whips are involved, that’s all I’m sayin’! Can you handle it?

I’m figuring out the best method of conducting our book club, whether it’s just blog comments, or live YouStream chats, etc. I want this to be interactive! So stay tuned for follow up posts on this.

And I didn’t mean to cheat, but I’m up to chapter 7 on MOTU and it’s really intriguing so far. I’m getting addicted and want to keep reading! The chapters are short, but there’re a lot of them! I’d say let’s start with five chapters a week and see if people aren’t totally reading ahead – it’s a fast read! We may need to move up to ten, but let’s start conservative.

By next Tuesday, let’s have the first five chapters read! Start reading HERE!

P.S. I encourage all my lovely PCJ Adam Lambert fans to get on board with this too…it’s gonna be goooood.

I'm only on chapter 11 so far. But the sheer knowledge of what's to come is making me so excited! It's like the anticipation is half the fun!! Will read more tonite. We're doing another podcast on Saturday and we're covering MOTU for sure!

Emancipation Proclamation By Kharrizmatik , She was also kicked out of FanFic for explicit detail of Sex and Violence. I Am a Twi-Porn Addic I can name at least 50 great...No not great, panty drenching fantastic FanFic stories, and several fron Twlighted. If you want any suggestions when your done with MOTU.

It took me 4 or 5 days to read MOTU - its freaking long! But I was really stretching it out there at the end...I'd make myself get up in between chapters and fold laundry, make the bed, take a cold shower, etc...whatever I could do to delay getting to the end of the story. Then I went straight to her website and read everything she had posted on there. And, um, yes...definitely my fav!! Im still having dreams about it (and I'll leave it at that) :) I think Im going thru withdraw....
@SeekingBecca - I might have to give that story a whirl...anything to fill the void!

Comment by SeekingBecca on September 9, 2010 at 6:57pm: @SAM - It will keep you on your toes. Emancipation Proclamation is also a very long story too, at 77 chapters I believe. There is most likely like 2 or 3 chapters left for this story to end, which will kill me when it does.

I'm thinking of doing "FanFiction Fridays" and the posts will be little recaps of various fics we're reading! Stay tuned! I've already got a couple fics waiting in the wings too!
